The Decisive Years of Spain

Citizens of the Spain!

For many of us in Madrid, even as we hoped against it in our hearts, even as we still held out in valiant belief that our suspicions of treason on the part of the Basques and the Catalonians were incorrect, we always knew that this day would come. We knew it with terrible clarity, we knew that these disloyal, these treasonous, these anti-Spanish elements would rise up in hatred against the great Spanish nation, against the fatherland and her acts. Not all of the Catalans and Basques have risen up, and some still remain loyal to the great Spanish nation, but enough among them have to raise the specter of civil war - a war we never wanted, we who interest ourselves only in peace and nationhood, but a war which they call upon our poor and beleaguered land nevertheless! These provincial bandits, so obsessed with their regional parochialism, with their fanatical anti-Spanish hatred, with arrogant feelings of superiority as compared to the rest of the citizens of the Fatherland, stand in a state of treasonous disloyalty to the Spanish nation.

Citizens of the Fatherland! Men and women of all regions of the national soil, the struggle we shall face shall not be an easy one. Against us, a terrible enemy, supported by the forces of communism, socialism, and atheism, the stalking dogs of the anti-Spain who stand against all that is good and holy, these forces of barbarism, raises their claws, their talons, to attempt to soak this land with blood. We must stand against it strong, strong with the conviction that our cause is just, that we defend the centuries of the Spanish state, the greatness of Spain, and the holy church.

Our enemies are not the Catalans and the Basques, as much as they might think it to be so. They are part of Spain, and some of their traditions are ones which are to be honored and protected, like with those of any of the people that make up Spain. But our suspicions of treason arising from these regional parochialism of their language is true: there must only be one Spanish people, of one language, and of one faith, or chaos like this, exploited by godless foreign powers, will attempt to sunder our nation. Let the Catalans and Basques set aside their stubborn clinging to their debased dialects and hatred of the rest of Spain, and let them instead be proud and full members of the Spanish nation, let them simply be content with being Spaniards like the rest of us, and all of our revendications, all of our demands, would be settled! But instead, they stand ready to drench this land in blood, so that the factory workers of Madrid or the farmers of Andalusia must march north, must march against those who stand against Spain, must march in the defense of the national fatherland. This shall be a battle of wills, and it shall be one where we triumph, guided by tradition, patriotism, justice, and truth. Against us, the forces of terrorism, godless atheism, communism, socialism, and frenetic anti-Spanish hatred shall inevitably be defeated. Among the Catalans and Basques, there are radical elements may hate Spain and the Spanish, but I am convinced that there are still yet many who will ultimately flock to our banner, and together, we will triumph. Vive Espana!

Let us join together in the Lord's Prayer, for the defense of Spain, Spanish civilization, our valiant soldiers who keep order in these trying provinces, and for the continued unity of the national fatherland.
