The Celestial Exodus
For most of the tens of thousands of years that the Suesdyians have spent in space, there has been no real problem with population density. Space has been lacking, resources few, wars have consumed both lives and treasure in flame, and the overall population, despite its potential, rarely has budged upwards - and when it has, it has most often been followed by a crash.
For the first time in living memory, perhaps in all of history, the Suesdyians have been united, and have been for many decades now, under the leadership of the emperor Sihgneg IV as the current leader. This has meant that at last a relative degree of peace has been assured to the Suesdyians, and the population, freed from its previous shackles of war, conflict, and the devotion of resources to military affairs, has undergone a massive spike. This has resulted in an unprecedented phenomenon: major over-crowding on Nires, as the population has begun to fill up the usable sections of the asteroid belts that define habitable, and usable, sections for the Suesdyians.
In theory, this seems ridiculous: space is such a huge expanse after all. And if it was a question of simply providing for habitation and accommodations, and a meager standard of living, then indeed it would be no real question. but for the creation of productive Suesdyians, the dwindling resource base places massive restraints on the population.
Thankfully this unprecedented situation comes at a time of unprecedented technological discovery, since the Suesdyians have at last gained access to colonization of the heavens themselves. A great variety of interstellar exploration and colonization missions have thus far been launched, with Egathen as the oldest colonized system - with only the disappearance of Suetemorp and his exploration group reflecting poorly on the Jirakirai.
The time has come to massively expand this interstellar development to secure more living space for the Suesdyians. This was the theme of the most recent Confederational Assembly, where the various clans all expressed their intention to relieve the growing social pressure and diminishing of social harmony through the solution of mass migration to the colonies.
This new policy was univerally agreed upon by the clans individually, with all individually financing and supporting colonization efforts to start a truly mass movement of people to the new systems that have been colonized, with the intent of trying to buy social harmony at home through these efforts. Provisional plans call for the construction of a number of new colonization ships capable of holding far larger populations and more industrial equipment than was the case for prior ships, with the expansion into explored zones - with prior agreements having already demarcated which ones belong to which clan. Current clan proposals include 1-3 systems to receive major colonization efforts, per clan.
