Société espagnole du colonialisme patriotique

The SECP, or the Société Espagnole du Colonialism Patriotique, is a private Spanish association (with perhaps some secret assistance from the Spanish government), which encourages and supports the Spanish colonial mission, as a vital requirement for the return of Spanish power, internal peace, an intensification of colonial investment, and a vigorous strengthening of ties with the other members of the Hispanic civilization. The opening speech of the society is laid out below.
What does the recent history of the world show us? It has shown that those nations which possess colonies are strong, stable, and peaceful internally, and those nations which do not, are bound to destruction and instability. Britain, France, now Italy, the great colonial powers, have managed to preserve social peace at home during this time of chaos. The Japanese, the Dutch, the Belgians, show themselves at peace or as strong and virile nations, expansionist and standing firm against decadence. Meanwhile the Americans, their colonies tiny and minute compared to the vastness of their own land, the Germans stripped of their overseas markets and lands, the poor nations of Eastern Europe, the Russians who have deluded themselves with the idea of their vast internal marches making up for their external deficits - these nations slide into chaos and decadence.

Decadence! Decadence, that word which has haunted the halls and the palaces, the hearths and the homes, the fields and the factories, of Spain for centuries, decadence, decadence, decadence... it is a word which stands in its terrible and stark harshness before us, which accuses us with how we have fallen compared to the times of our ancestors. Once from Madrid our empire stretched around the world, far greater than the greatest colonial empire of the present, the British, could ever hope to match. The British, shopkeepers and merchants, rule over a discontented and heterogeneous collection of colonies. They term some of them, like India, to be the jewel in their crown, but these are baubles, not of the same faith, not of the same tongue. Compare them to Spain's work of civilization, which spread the one true faith, Spanish civilization, the Spanish language, from the gates of Texas to Cape of Horn, across jungles and mountains, across oceans and rivers, which ruled from Madrid to Mexico City, from where once the Incas sat in Peru to Manila in the Philippines where we stood among the riches of China, building upon the old temples of heresy and untruth from whence were spawned the Aztecs cathedrals of justice and light. Compared to these days, we are small and weak.

It is the duty of Spain, for the regeneration of our people, to spread the light of the Latin civilization to the world, to bring truth to those who know it not, and to willingly embrace its role as a great and civilized power, to take once more upon our hardened shoulders the cross of truth and faith. It is clear, that without the vigorous pursuit of colonies, that we risk to continue along the path of decadence, and that only the resumption of fallen glories will bring peace at home, as our people embrace their task as the bearers of faith, as they are brought peace through markets for our goods, as our factories are assured the products of myriad lands. For ourselves, for colonies, for our world, we must embrace, in the way of Spain, the vigorous pursuit of colonial activity, for in any other other direction is the high road of decadence and defeat, of chaos and decline.

We must do so in a way which is peculiar to Spain, faithful to our traditions, our heritage, and our beliefs. In some ways, we must do so in a manner which is alien to the colonialism of the materialistic, rationalistic, and mercantile Anglo-Saxons, but which instead follows the spiritual and profound irrationality of the Spanish civilization. We must be the torch of Hispanic civilization in the New World, assisting them too to return to the ordered and just Latin world, built upon the light of God, upon order, peace, and organic composition. Against the chaotic and profane liberalism of the Anglo-Saxons, their materialism in their unbridled capitalism or their socialist barbarism as expressed by the Americans, we must instead be once more the bearers of the faith and truth, to gather around us the fellow members of the Hispanic world, and to light a fire which shall never be extinguished. This too, constitutes a vital part of our mission, for we must be a true leader of a civilization, and not mercantile shopkeepers like the English. Not through colonies to our brothers, but as part of the truthful and ordered friendship of the Hispanic people, their brotherhood ordained in their unity.

So too, we must embrace the unique status of Spain as an intermediary between the Arab and European worlds, to work to return the Arabic world to the correct path. We must continue our task of civilizing work with the members of the blood which spills from the Pyrenees across the gates of Hercules, to lay deeper and more profound roots in our colony in Morocco, and to bring to the dark continent the glories of Latin civilization and the true faith.

Be it through the establishment of colonies, or our relations with our fellow Hispanic brothers, we must reject the road of decadence and return to the great mission which has always been the historic mission of Spain, its metier, and its god-given task in the world. Let us embrace this with dutiful and earnest patriotism, let us clear our brows, and square our shoulders, for the triumph of a new age and of our country.
